Three words: Dolce & Gabbana. Dolce & Gabbana has always been a fashion house of playful, colorful, luxurious clothing. Most recently, they have been fiercely devoted to showing pride to their motherland through their designs, but most notably through their campaigns. Their campaigns are so candid, so joyful, and 100% italian, and I have become obsessed with them. I believe I am drawn to them so much because they are so youthful. Teen fashionistas live for watching and keeping up with fashion week and glossing through the glamorous and sophisticated ad campaigns in Vogue. However, I still feel there can be a disconnect with the youth for high fashion, especially when it comes to ad campaigns. Some can be fascinating yet so dramatic and sensual. Of course most of us teens are not going to buy what’s on the Marc Jacobs or Balenciaga ad in our Harpar Bazaar issue, but seeing that we are the future, I believe fashion houses should stray away from the abstract, dark, and dramatic ads and shoot more lighthearted and youthful ads. In fact, many brands have done so. Chanel and Fendi ads over the past year or two have become quite eclectic and very colorful in their ads, and the stars of the ads are nonetheless people are age (Kendall Jenner and Lily-Rose Depp). However, the brand that has best shifted and taken the time to reach out to the youth is Dolce and Gabbana. When you read through Vogue you can’t help to stop, smile, and just wish you were on that D&G photoshoot in Capri or Naples. Their most recent ad campaign, Spring and Summer 2017, has casted young adults, including Cameron Dallas and Zendaya, who have shown poise, ingenuity, and style in the limelight of Hollywood and the fashion world. Millennial models are starting to rule the industry, and I have a feeling this movement will not dwindle anytime soon. #DGMillennials
