While my fangirling of the season include La La Land and Ed Sheeran’s new album ( I mean, what girl doesn’t fangirl over Ryan Gosling and the songs of a lyrical mastermind??), my fangirling that never fades is fashion week. Spring and fall fashion week, are without a doubt, my favorite weeks of the year. For two whole months, starting with New York and ending with Paris, seeing the glamour of the street style and the exquisite designs of the world's top designers become my happy place in a sense; my escape from Midwestern suburbia. This is all thanks to technology. How technology and social media has influenced the fashion world is a whole other story, but I find it so mind blowing how close one can feel to being front row at fashion's top runway shows from anywhere in the world. Through the Vogue Runway app, I am able to see shows moments after the last model struts down the runway and read professional reviews about the vibe, theme, and story of each collection. The Vogue Runway app is how I keep up with all the latest trends and emerging designers, and the app may or not be why my notes on my phone solely consist of notes I jot down about every season or why my Pinterest has almost 1000 runway looks saved.
Now onto Fall Ready-to-Wear 2017. This season can be described in five words: go big or go home. Collections this spring were either full of bold prints and silhouettes or the classic, timeless look that never fails to rise to the top of the runway shows. However, it never fails to amaze me how each year new and lesser known designers will take these classic looks and will put modern twists on their silhouettes to create a new piece that is fresh, sophisticated, and ready for any fashion it girl to wear. I believe this is how they make a name for themselves.
For fashion month this spring, every week and every city became more over the top, more creative, and designs became more exquisitely chic and innovative. The peak of fashion week came with Dolce & Gabbana's star studded runway including the new wave of millennial models , international royalty, and celebrities from all form of the arts. The rest of fashion week did not disappoint with my favorite collections being Miu Miu, Zuhair Murad, and Johanna Ortiz. All of these shows embraced my favorite fashion aesthetic: floral, feminine, and fabulous. Check out the link below to see Vogue's fashion week recap and the newest trends of the season!
