When in New York City

No matter how many songs are written about the ambiance of New York, it is hard for me to describe how I feel about the city into words. New York is a behemoth of a city , but I disagree with the people who say that you can never feel like you belong in New York City. While I was only in the city for a day, I was amazed at the beautiful and endless hidden gems of architecture, art, and history on every street. For a fashion lover, any time you visit an epicenter of fashion for the first time, it is a very surreal moment. Going to the same places and walking on the same streets as the fashion gods and queens of the world captivates you in a way that makes it so hard to say goodbye to. I absolutely loved people watching on the streets, in the subway, and at the museums because all I could think about is how every single person had their own and unique story, but yet everyone blended in.
For my day trip in New York City, my uncle who is an artist in Brooklyn and has lived in the city for almost twenty years, was our personal tour guide for the day. Exploring New York through the eyes of a local and a tourist simultaneously was the absolute best way to experience the day because although I got to cross The Met and Top of the Rock off my bucket list, I also got to see one of the most beautiful libraries in the world and eat at an oyster bar under Grand Central (all which are my some of my uncle's favorite spots in the city). However, the highlight of my trip was meeting my new aunt! My uncle and her got married a few weekends before at city hall, and I wish all the happiness in the world to them! This rendezvous in NYC was one of the best experiences of my life, and I hope everyone gets to experience the city once in their lifetime. Make sure to check out the photos below to look at my favorite views of the city and perhaps they may even be the inspiration for your next weekend get away!
