When in Modena

Three things I learned when going into Modena: Italian men are obsessed with their hair like I am obsessed with the Bleachers and buying new shoes, biking is not only the practical way but also the fashionable way to get around town, and that I could live solely on the existence of coffee and gelato. While in Italy, I did give into the Stan Smith lifestyle (I think it's past the term of being "just a trend") and bought a pair in Milan, and I swear you can wear these shoes with anything. From last year to now, there has not been any notable trends, but the trends of culottes, all black ensemble, espadrilles platform sandals, Adidas shoes, and designer sunglasses have become even more refined and chic than before.
The city of Modena is a hidden gem that most tourists pass over. It's a quiet city but oh so full of culture. For me, it has all the bare necessities: easy walkablity, great shopping, beautiful architecture, and it does not hurt that it is in the heart of the region that is claimed to be Italy's "Foodie Capital." Another plus: it has about ten shoe stores within a five minute walking distance from each other, so for all my shoe lovers, Modena is your place. Modena is part of the Emilia Romagna region just north of Tuscany, and it is quickly becoming known for more than just the birthplace of Enzo Ferrari and for the factories of Lamborghini and Ducati. It is home to four major cities: Reggio Emilia, Bologna, Modena, and Parma. The region is also full of dozens of little villages in the countryside (that yes remind me of Ed Sheeran's song Castle on the Hill), and these villages are the true hidden gems. Not only is the food amazing and the landscape breathtaking, but it is the people of these villages who are the most special. They are so passionate and prideful about their homes and their country, and they show you a sense of hospitality that is hard to find anywhere else. Italy has a special place in my heart, and I hope you get a glimpse of the beauty that I see in Italy from my pictures!
